Abstract: VERGARA, SAMSON B., Profile, parental relationship and social behavior of selected adolescents of Barangay Bugaan, Laurel, Batangas. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, April 2008. Imelda R. Filart. This study determined the profile, parental relationship and social behavior of selected adolescents of Barangay Bugaan, Laurel, Batangas. Specifically, the study aims to: 1. Present the profile of selected adolescents in terms of: a.) age; b.) gender; c.) parent occupation; d.) age of parent; e.) family status; f.) socio-economic status 2. Determine the level of respondent's parental relationship. 3. Determine the social behavior of selected adolescents in term of: a. deviant; b. social conformity; 4. Determine if there is a significant relationship between parental relationship and social behavior. The researcher used the descriptive-correlational method, in this study describing and interpreting the profile, parental relationship and social behavior. The technique that was employed in this study was simple random sampling, in which respondents were chosen based on the criteria set by the researcher. To determine the ideal sample size relevant to the study, the researcher used the Slovin's formula. To know the significant relationship of profile, parental relationship, and social behavior the researcher used the mean, frequency, percentage, spearman rank, and chi-square, and point— biserial correlation coefficient for statistical treatment. The study involved one hundred ten (110) respondents from Barangay Bugaan, Laurel, Batangas. The researcher concluded that some other profile of the respondents can affect their parental relationship such as age gap between parent and child, gender, but it can develop and set up to well relationship to each parent and child. But in parental relationship it can affect the respondent's social behavior, the children needed to be oriented by their parents from their environments or social behavior, in a way how they react in that situation. The researcher recommended for the parents that they must be more aware of how their quality time can contribute to the adjustment of their children to the society; for teachers and guidance counselors- it is important that they continue to be good models to their students; for school administration- they need to give more attention and encouragement to the students to change their unpleasant behavior to attain their ambition in their lives. Further, they need to communicate to our respective parents to give more information and background for their children to be responsible students; for the adolescents- they must have proper open communication with their parents or guidance counselors to be knowledgeable and well oriented of the society for better social adjustment; for future researcher- researchers should focus to other factors such as needs of adolescents which is either emotional and mental for a clear understanding of their role in the society.
