Abstract: ROZUL, ALMA FE CROOX, "MANAGEMENT PRACTICES IN SELECTED GAME FOWL FARMS IN THE PROVINCE OF CAVITE". Undergraduate Thesis. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Indang, Cavite. Adviser: Alvin-William Alvarez, DVM. The study described and compared the management practices in six (6) game fowl farms in province of Cavite. This included farms that are located in Balubad I and II Silang, Cavite; Pasong-Buaya I and II, Imus, Cavite; Brgy. Inocencio Trece Martires City and Dalahican, Cavite City. Size of the farms included ranged from 100-1000 birds and were considered as medium sized. One (1) respondent was interviewed for every farm with the use of a questionnaire. Interest or fondness for the birds and mean environmental temperature were the primary factors considered in establishing a game fowl farm by three of the six respondents. All of the six game fowl farms are within acceptable distance in terms of proximity to residential area and four of the six game fowl farms are in acceptable distance in terms of distance to other farms. In terms of land area, the farms are based on the total population of the birds raised. The farm structures and facilities used by different game fowl farms are breeding/mating pen, hatching area, flying pen,`sparring area and also the teepee type of housing are needed for the growing, breeding and training of game fowl. In feeding their game fowl, all of the game fowl handlers in the six game fowl farms used commercially available feeds and feed twice daily (ranging from 10-50 grams of feeds). On health management, all game fowl farms implemented strict biosecurity measures. Only one of the six game fowl farm hired there own veterinarian for monitoring the health status and vaccination program in the farm while the other five farms utilizes technical information from the media, books and other reading materials and also by asking persons expert in the production. All farms follow vaccination programs and deworming program to prevent and control the occurrence of disease in the farm and also include the deworming. The results of the study shows that de, game fowl farms in the province of Cavite have their differences as well as similarities in management practices of game fowl. They are all profitable whether they follow the recommended management practices for game fowl farms or the traditional way.
