Abstract: SANTIAGO, ERWIN SAN JOSE. Profitability of Selected Street food Businesses in Bacoor, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Marketing Cavite State University, Imus Cavite. April 2008. Adviser: Mrs. Nydia G. Punzal. The study was conducted in different barangays in Bacoor, Cavite namely: Panapaan consists of eight barangays, Maliksi consists of eight barangays, Mabolo consists of seven barangays and San Nicolas consists of five barangays. It specifically aimed to: describe the socio-demographic characteristics of the street hawkers in terms of age, educational attainment, gender, civil status, and years of experience; describe the characteristics of selected street food businesses; determine the level of profit and profitability of street food businesses and ascertain the relationship between level of profit and some selected variables. A total of 100 street food vendors in Bacoor, Cavite were used in the study. Data used in this study were gathered through survey form and personal interview with the street food vendors. Result of the study showed that the age of the street food vendors ranged from 20-50 years old with an average of 38 years old. Majority of the street food sellers were male, married and had reached the elementary level. The average years in the business operation was 10 years. The amount of capital used in the business ranged from P4 000- P11 000, which majority came from their individual savings. Among the five factors tested on the profitability level of the street food businesses in Bacoor, Cavite, only the amount of capital invested in the business was found out to be highly significant. The other socio-demographic characteristics such as age, civil status, educational attainment, and years of experience were found out to be not significantly related to the level of profitability of street food business. In one year, a street food vendors generated an average investment of Php 13, 5000.00. It is profitable venture considering that for every peso sold in street food businesses a net income equal to Php 12, 5675.00 can be generated.
