This farm practice was conducted at Triple J Poultry Farm in Brgy. Sabang, Naic, Cavite from November 25, 2006 to January 10, 2007 with 12, 744 birds in one production cycle. The main objective of the farm practice was to participate in the day-to-day operation of the farm to gain skills in contract broiler management. Brooding period lasted for 2 weeks. During the brooding period, charcoal heaters were used as sources of heat. The floor was covered with sack and rice hull as litter material. The birds were fed ad libitum and consumed 108 bags of chick booster mash, 408 bags of broiler starter mash and 285 bags of broiler finisher mash.
Water was made accessible to the birds at all times. After 45 days of rearing, the birds attained an average live weight of 1.82 kg and an average feed consumption of 3.48 kg, which resulted in 1.91 kg feed conversion efficiency. The farm recorded a gross income of Php 140,768.36 and a net income of Php 27,818.21 or Php 2.43/bird.
