Abstract: DILOY, LEI ANN E. and MANANGAN, MARISSA T. Design of Suspension Bridge between Brgy. Kaytambog and Brgy. Tambo Malaki, Indang, Cavite. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering., Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2009. Adviser: Marcelino A. Dagasdas, Jr. The suspension bridge is one of the oldest types of bridge. Early simple, or catenary, suspension bridges consisted of three or more cables made from vines, where people walked directly on the ropes to cross. The main forces in a suspension bridge are tension in the cables and compression in the pillars. A proposed bridge design was located between Barangay Kaytambog and Tambo Malaki, Indang Cavite. Lulungisan River separated the two Barangay. The bridge was design for the convenience of the passenger for it will reduce the travel time; transportation cost as well as the movement of goods will be greatly improved. The bridge has one hundred thirty eight meters with a width of twelve meters. The maximum load of 50 tons was used with an allowable of 25 tons. Which all are being supported by stiffening truss, cable suspender that are connected to main cable and anchored at the top of the tower support. The design was describe to be economical, durable and safe, all the factors considered. This bridge was composed of concrete and steel design. Suspension bridge is designed uniquely, with attention given to both function and aesthetics. New materials may be used, or even developed, to make the bridge less bulky and more efficient.
