Abstract: TALAMANTE, MARLON E. Demographic Characteristics and Attitude Towards Mental Illness of Selected Students of Cavite State University AY 2007-2008. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University. Adviser Mrs. Ma. Alodia C. Mercado The study entitled "Demographic Characteristics and Attitude towards Mental Illness of Selected Students of Cavite State University AY 2007-2008" was conducted in CAvite State University from December to January 2008. This aimed to 1.) identify the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of 1.1) age 1.2) Gender 1.3) course 1.4) year level 1.5) birth order 1.6) family Monthly Income 2.) Determine the attitude of the respondents in terms of 2.1) Authoritarianism 2.2) Benevolence 2.3) Social Restrictiveness 2.4) Mental Hygiene Ideology 2.5) Interpersonal etiology 3) Determine if there is a significant relationship between the demographic characteristics and attitude towards mental illness of the respondents. Three hundred seventy three of the respondents were randomly selected using slovins formula. The questionnaire which was the attitude towards mental illness was used to determine the demographic characteristic and attitude towards mental illness of the respondents. Based from the findings there is no relationship between the demographic characteristics, age, year level, family monthly income, and birth order of the respondents, it was revealed that the respondents were highly satisfied with their attitude in terms of benevolence, authoritarianism, social restrictiveness, interpersonal etiology mental hygiene.
