Abstract: PERIDO, LORMINDA A., Profile, Parent-Adolescent Conflict and Risk Taking Behavior of Selected High School Students in Mendez, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2009. Adviser: Evalyne A. Rodriguez This study sought to determine the profile, parent-adolescent conflict and risk taking behavior of selected high school students in Mendez, Cavite. The selected students were given Parent-Adolescent Conflict Scale lifted from the thesis study of Mariz Naebell for the selected high school students of Augustinian Abbey School to measure the level of parent-adolescent conflict. They were also given a Risk Taking Questionnaire lifted in a thesis study of Marlon Paul Germo, a student of De La Salle University, to determine their risk taking behavior in terms of deviant and social conformity. Specifically, it aimed to answer the following questions: (1) what is the profile of the selected high school students in terms of: (a)age, (b)gender, (c)birth order, (d)family status, and (e)age of parent; (2) what is the level of parent-adolescent conflict; (3) what is the risk taking behavior display by the respondents in terms of: (a)deviance, (b)social conformity; (4) what is the relationship between parent-adolescent conflict and risk taking behavior; (5) is the profile of respondent significantly related to parent-adolescent conflict and risk taking behavior. This study is composed of 184 respondents drawn from the stratified random sampling. To know the significant relationship of profile, parent-adolescent conflict and risk taking behavior the researcher used the mean, frequency, percentage, spearman rank, chi-square and point biserial correlation coefficient for statistical treatment. Based on the result of the study, it was found that the profile in terms of age and family status can affect the parent-adolescent conflict and risk taking behavior. The gender, birth order and age of parent have no significant relationship to the parent-adolescent conflict and risk taking behavior. The parent-adolescent conflict has a significant influenced in the risk taking behavior of the respondent particularly to their deviance and social conformity. This study of the relationship of profile, parent-adolescent conflict and risk taking behavior of the students would not only help the researcher but also the parents, teachers, guidance counselors, students, and future researchers on the basis of the data and information resulting from this study.
