Abstract: ALMENDRAZ, JAIMELYN FABRIGA. Academic Procrastination: Basis for Student Development Program. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April, 2009: Adviser: Ms. Teresa Q. Amarille. This study determined the demographic profile of the respondents, established the level of student academic procrastination; uncovered the factors that affected the academic procrastination of the respondents in terms of personal factor, teacher factor and subject factor, revealed the level of factors affecting academic procrastination of the respondents, clarified if demographic profile significantly related to academic procrastination and ‘the factors affecting it; and made certain the given factors significantly related to academic procrastination. The study was composed of 304 respondents who came from different colleges and courses in this university. The respondents were selected through proportionate random sampling from the total population of each college and courses at the total number of enrollees during the school year 2008-2009. The data used in this study was obtained through a survey questionnaire. Descriptive correlational method was used for this study with the statistical tool for analysis: frequency, mean, percentage, range, ranks, chi- square, spearman’s rank correlation and point biserial. The result revealed that many of the students have a high level of procrastination that is characterized by lack of discipline—students passed their requirements past due date. It was also revealed that the teacher factor, personal factor and subject factor have influenced the academic procrastination of the respondents. The factors that affect most to academic procrastination of the respondents is the teacher factor, therefore, it was recommended that the teacher must be strict in implementing the rules and regulation inside the class, and as for the student, it was recommended that they must enhance their self-discipline to avoid procrastination habit. )
