Abstract: UREBE, EDWN E. Management of Broiler Production at Bonilla Farm under Contract Growing Scheme of Sustamina Agri- Industrial Corporation. Farm Practice Report. Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Major in Animal Science, Cavite State University, Indang Cavite. October 2009. Adviser: Dr Magdalena N. Alcantara This farm practice conducted from April 4 to May 31, 2009, covered three different phases of broiler production. It was conducted first at the Sustamina Agri Industrial Corporation Hatchery, then at Bonilla Poultry Farm and last, at the Sustamina Dressing Plant. The main objective of the farm practice was to provide the student with practical experience in commercial broiler production and management. At the hatchery farm, different ways of operation such as delivery of the hatching eggs, sorting, fumigating, incubating, hatching up to the classification and packaging of day-old chicks ready for commercial delivery were learned and experienced. Growing day-old chicks is the major phase of the farm practice. A total of 21, 205 birds was confined in a good and well-prepared house and were brood for a period of 14 days. The brooding period lasted for 14 days. During brooding, heat energy was provided to the birds and the entire floor of the brooding house was covered with rice hull to ensure an even floor temperature. Birds were fed ad libitum and 1 153 bags of feed were consumed. Fresh and clean water was provided to the birds at all times. The health of the birds was given concern starting from the hatchery. All the birds were pre-vaccinated at the hatchery and growing farm and different medicines were orally given. After 45 days of rearing, the birds attained an average weight of 1.51 kg and total weight of 28,931.20 kg. The average feed consumption per bird was 2.72 kg resulted in a feed conversion efficiency of 1.99. The mortality from placement to 45 days of growing was 9.38%. The gross income of the farm for the production was Php 92, 143.03 and a net loss of Php3, 687.99 was noted. At the dressing plant, slaughtering of broilers up to packaging of the carcass (ready to cook chicken), giblets and other edible parts were discussed and experienced
