An entrepreneurial project was conducted at the Animal Science Poultry House, Department of Animal Science, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite from February 3 to March 9, 2012. This project aimed to expose the student to actual broiler production, to develop managerial skills and to assess the profitability of the enterprise.
A total of 100 day-old chicks were raised. After a rearing period of 38 days, the birds consumed a total of 257 kg of feed with an average feed consumption of 2.57 kg per bird. The birds obtained an average final body weight of 1.55 kg. Derived feed efficiency was 1.66 and computed harvest recovery was 100 percent. The project was found profitable with a net income of Php 2,419.00 and return on investment of 23.54 percent.
