The design project was conducted from October 2012 to January 2013. It was evaluated on January 24, 2013 under the supervision of Engr. Marcelino A. Dagasdas Jr. at the Department of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering and Information Technology, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite.
The study for the Proposed Design of Steel Truss Brigde along Medina, Magallanes, Cavite aimed to develop a short route to connect Sitio Kay-apas to the public market of Medina, Magallanes, Cavite. The design can provide field data that could contribute to the town’s progress and easement of transportation.
The bridge design project aimed to enhance the knowledge of the researchers in designing a steel truss bridge. The proposed design included architectural drawings, detailed structural plans, and total project cost. The design served as a reference for the future implementation of the design project. It would be of great help to the decision makers for future implementation.
The design of the 20 meters, simple-span bridge is an appropriate replacement of the existing footbridge. Steel truss type of bridge with two lanes was designed. To determine the most economical section to be adopted in bridge design, it is highly recommended that a further study of simple-span bridge be conducted.
The direct estimated cost of the design project was PhP 10, 458, 808.60.
