Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University, Main Campus. April 2013. Adviser: Ms. Imelda R.Filart. This study aimed to determine of academic problems, coping mechanism and the academic performance of third year and fourth year BS Psychology students and to prove the significant relationship between academic problems, coping mechanism and the academic performance of third year and fourth year BS Psychology students of Cavite State University Main Campus. This study utilized descriptive — correlational design and used Mean test and Standard Deviation, Frequency Count in Percentage and Spearman rank correlation in analyzing and interpreting the data. Results revealed that academic problems of the respondents in terms of class workloads and environment got a high mean score. It was found out that problem focused coping is almost used by the students. It was also found out that the academic performance of the respondents got a very good verbal interpretation. Lastly, the findings on the relationship of academic problems and coping mechanism revealed that the academic problem of the students did not influence their utilization of coping mechanism; the relationship of academic problems and academic performance revealed that the academic problems encountered by the students on the different areas did not influence in their high grades and that their utilized coping mechanism did not influence on the student academic performance.
