Writing experts have argued for the usefulness of comments on students' papers to promote successful writing. Feedback gives the students direction in their revision process; it helps the students to make decisions on the kinds of changes that must be made in order for their papers to work. This research discusses the views and preferences that students have with regard teacher comments. This study was conducted to determine the students' impression regarding teachers' comments on their essay and written report at the Cavite State University. Specifically, the study aimed to present the profile of students at the Cavite State University in terms of age and gender, determine the nature of comment given by teachers on students' essay and written report, determine the students' impression about teachers' comments on their essay and written report, determine the types of comments that students find helpful in improving their essay and written report; and ascertain if there is a significant difference in the impression of students regarding teachers' comments on their essay and written report between colleges. The type of comments that students find helpful in improving their essay and written report and the reasons of the respondents for reading the teachers' comments were the same for students from CED, CAS, and CEMDS. The impression of the students regarding teachers' comments on essay and written report is the same among colleges. There is no significant difference between the impression of the students regarding teachers' comments on their essay and written report.
