Abstract: BORJA, JEAN MARIE T. Parenting Style as Perceived by Parents and Children and Social Adjustment of Grade Six Pupils in Langkaan 1 Elementary School, Dasmarinas City, Cavite. Undergraduate thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. March 2013. Adviser: Mrs. Alma Fatima R. Reyes. This study aimed to determine the parenting style as perceived by the parents and children and the relationship between children perceived parenting style and level of social adjustment of grade six pupils in Langkaan 1 Elementary School, Dasmarinas City, Cavite. Purposive sampling method was used to determine the sample population of 270 participants from the grade six pupils and their biological parents. The survey forms which were adapted and self-made were personally administered by the researcher to the children while the questionnaires for the parents were given under the cooperation and supervision of the teachers. The result of this study shows that authoritative parenting style was the most preferred by the participants. On the other hand, children have high level of social adjustment. In relation to the above statement, the result was obtained by computing the weighted mean, standard deviation, frequency and percentage. The other result of the study determined the difference of the parenting style of the participants using Kruskall-wallis test of difference at 0.001 asymptotic significance and rejected the null hypothesis. Lastly, the result of chi-square test of relationship shows that there is a significant relationship between parenting style of the children and its level of social adjustment.
