Abstract: BAEL, GENIEREX R. and GEROMO, JOHN PAUL B. Comparative Analysis on the Day and Night Work Performance of Selected Barangay Police. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2013. Adviser: Engr. Mary Joyce P. Alcazar. The study aimed to compare the day and night work performance of selected barangay police by determining the terms of reference and demographic profile that includes individual attributes such as gender, age, height, weight and educational attainment; work attributes such as occupational rank, work schedule, working days, years in service and; the type of activities performed, number of assigned barangay police and its significance on their performance. Work sampling technique, self-assessment survey and resident's survey are the tools used to evaluate the day and night work performance of barangay police. Work sampling technique was used to better understand and compare the activities being done to determine the problems to be resolved. The results of the work sampling technique were tested whether it corresponds to the results of survey being done on the respondents. A survey questionnaire was used for the residents and a self-assessment test for the barangay police themselves. The survey questionnaire focused on the individual attributes, work attributes, type of activities assigned and how the barangay police interact with it. All the data gathered were then analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and z-test analysis. The study showed thru the results of the work sampling technique, self-assessment survey and resident's survey, that there was a significant difference between the day and night work performance; and work attributes and individual attributes such as age, weight, educational status have a significant effect on the day and night work performance of the barangay police. The study also showed that night work performance was more productive than day work performance as attested by the results of the work sampling technique and resident's survey. Self-assessment survey result showed that day work performance are more productive than night work performance but values are in close proximity. The recommendation was to establish a standard procedure for patrolling for the barangay. It was suggested that rovings should also be practiced during daytime so that barangay polices are well informed of the situations. Establish a standard break time, where barangay police will not leave their jobs within their area unattended. Provide an additional member to be assigned during day time, add at least one day of work for day duties and add at least two barangay police on every subdivisions to maximize their productivity.
