Abstract: SOLANOY, RONA NINA TACIANE P. Profile, Decision Making and Religious Commitment of Novices Pursuing Religious Life in Selected Convents in Tagaytay City. Undergraduate Thesis.Bachelor of Science in Psychology.Cavite State University — Main Campus. April 2013. Thesis Adviser: Mr. Renato T. Agdalpen. This study was conducted to determine the profile, decision making ang religious commitment of novices pursuing religious life in selected convents in Tagaytay City in terms of net nationality, family size, ordinal position, educational attainment and family income. Descriptive research design was used in the study. The participants of the study were seventy eight novices from the selected convents in Tagaytay City, which have not yet taken their final vows. Total enumeration technique was also utilized in the study because of the limited number of participants. The study utilized survey technique using the researcher-made research instrument for the decision making scale and religious commitment scale by Pfeifer and Waelty. Statistical measures used in the study were mean, frequency and percentage. The results revealed that the participants have an average level when it comes to making a decision and got the highest percentage when it comes to religious commitment. It also revealed that there is a significant relationship in the decision making and religious commitment of novices in terms of nationality. The researcher recommends the congregation to conduct additional seminars for the novices for the enhancement of their decision making and religious commitment and continuous evaluation for their preparation as profess sisters. To the community, it is recommended to be snore understanding and give respect to whatever decisions a novice made. For future researchers, to conduct similar study that focuses on the decision making and religious commitment of the novices and includes the novices in the seminary as well.
