The study was conducted to develop an online tracking system that will improve the capsule process in terms of storage of information, communication, and generation of reports. It was designed primarily for the benefit of the students conducting their thesis in the College of Engineering and Information Technology of Cavite State University.
The methodology used in developing the software was _ software development methodology which is composed of the following phases: analyze/planning,breakdown priority project, design module, code test/debug, and test/implementation.
The online tracking system is composed of three modules:the account management module that handles the levels of access;the thesis tracking module that handles the thesis archive and the different reports that the system can generate; and the progress module for the announcements and downloadable forms.
The system was developed using different applications:My Structured Query Language (MySQL) for the database management system, PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) as the scripting language, Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 and Adobe Photoshop for the interface design of the system, Notepad ++ for coding, and Google Chrome as the default Browser.
The system was evaluated by 100 participants consisting of students and unit research coordinators of the college based on functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, and portability. The system passed the given criteria and met the expected output.
