Abstract: REGAYA, JAYSON V. and TAPIA, CRIS JOHN F. Automated Mist Irrigation System of Coffee Clonal Cutting Propagation for CvSU Coffee Nursery. Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2014. Adviser: Engr. Emeline C. Gueverra. The automated mist irrigation system of coffee clonal cutting propagation for CvSU Coffee Nursery was conducted at Cavite State University Main Campus, Indang Cavite from June 2013 to September 2013. The main objective of the design project was to create an automated mist irrigation system for clonal cutting propagation. Specifically, it aimed to develop software to control the automated mist irrigation system, develop a system for the wireless transmission of data, and develop a support circuit for the microcontroller. Moreover, it aimed to use a soil moisture content sensor to monitor the moisture content of the soil. The design project focused on monitoring and controlling the moisture content of the soil through mist irrigation system, the use of wireless data transmission in the acquisition of the data and the storage of data with the use of a database. The design project was setup and evaluated at the green house of the National Coffee Research Development and Extension Center of Cavite State University (NCRDEC). The adviser, technical critic and some of the panelists evaluated the device. During the evaluation, soil moisture content of the soil was monitored and controlled through the automated misting system. The gathered data by the system were also checked if properly stored in the database. The maximum distance of data transmission without any error occurrence and without obstructions was 4 meters in radius. The maximum distance of data transmission without obstructions and without any error occurrence was 6.8 meters in radius. The design project met the expected output and evaluation. It shows that the system was reliable and could be implemented in a greenhouse. Moreover, the sensors that were used gave an accurate data. To further improve the device, it is recommended to use a transmission device that can transmit data in a longer distance, provide a potentiometer into the device for the adjustment of needed soil moisture content, and provide a screen interface for the device for entering of the needed soil moisture content.
