Abstract: ALEJO, JOSEPHINE L., ROLLE, MA. JESSICA LOUISE S., Socio — Economic status, Emotional Intelligence and Academic Performance of Civil Engineering Students in Cavite State University, Main Campus. Undergraduate Thesis. This study was conducted to find out the relationship of socio — economic status to emotional intelligence and academic performance of civil engineering students. A descriptive correlational method was used to determine the relationships among the variables and a stratified random sampling technique was used in selecting the 198 participants from all year level of Civil Engineering students of Cavite State University — Main Campus who answered the 50 items self = constructed questionnaire. Results revealed that most of the participants have parents who have the highest educational attainment of high school graduate. Most of them have monthly income of P10,000 and below. They were found to have high level of emotional intelligence. They have a satisfactory level of academic performance. Socio — economic status appeared to have no significant relationship in emotional intelligence and academic performance. Domains in emotional intelligence appeared to have no significant relationship to academic performance except the two domains namely: self-awareness and self-regulation appeared to have significant relationship to academic performance. Therefore, it is hereby recommended that school should promote through guidance programs the self-awareness and self-regulation of their emotions because through this, it would help them to level up their academic performance
