Leaves as Vermifuge for Native Chickens" Adviser:Prof. Eleanor G. Ersando
The research study was conducted in Trece Martires City from September to October 2002. This aimed to develop a fern Vermifuge that could kill or eliminate parasitic worms of chicken. It also aimed to determine the chemical constituents of fern using histochemical analysis or test.
Twenty native chickens were collected and placed in 20 separate cages. They were fed ad libitum and were given vermifuge once. The treatment used in the study were: To-control (Vermex ); Tl- (100% fern extract); T2- (50% fern extract+50% tap water); (25% fern extract+75% tap water). After the application, the feces of the chickens were collected daily for five consecutive days and were brought to the Provincial Department of Veterinary Medicine in Trece Martires City, Cavite for fecal analysis. Four treatments were used and were replicated five times. A Completely Randomized Design was employed in the study.
The result showed that the control was the best treatment among the four followed by Tl, followed by T2 and lastly T3.
