Abstract: MALICSI, ACE AIVIIEL E. and VECINAL, ALEXIS C. Development of an Online Generic Student Publication Portal. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Cavite State University. Indang, Cavite. April 2014. Adviser: Lydia P. Nosa. The study entitled "Development of an Online Generic Student Publication Portal" was developed to create an alternative tool in publishing school newspaper and to solve the problems existing in the field of school journalism. The study aimed to develop the online generic student publication portal. The specific objectives of the study are to identify the problems through interviews and research, analyze the problem using Fishbone Diagram and Data Flow Diagram, design a system using Use Case Diagram and Entity Relationship Diagram, develop a system by using PHP, HTML, Javascript, CSS, and MySQL, and various applications like Adobe Dreamweaver CC and Adobe Photoshop CS5 for the development and design of the system, and evaluate and test the system using unit testing, integration testing and acceptance testing. The research was conducted at the College of Engineering and Information Technology, Cavite State University — Main Campus, AMA University — Brgy. Langkaan, Dasmarinas, Cavite and De La Salle University — Dasmarinas, Cavite on July 29, 2013. Researchers also conducted interviews in different organizations namely Student Publication Unit - The Gazette at Cavite State University — Main Campus, Cavite State University Science High School, and Trece Martires City National High School. The proponents used the Software Development Methodology to be the guide in the software development. The methodology consists of seven phases namely the Analysis and Planning, the Breakdown Priority Project, Design Module, Code and Testing — Debugging, Integration of Sub-Procedures and Testing, Integration of Existing Systems, and the Testing and Implementation. The evaluation of the study was done by using non-probability purposive sampling in which 100 participants have evaluated and tested the system. After developing the system, different testing methods were conducted such as the Unit, Integration, and Acceptance Testing. The tests were conducted in order to determine if the system satisfied the needs of the clients and school organizations. After the evaluation, the software successfully met all the requirements needed by its intended users.
