CUENO, ANTHONY L., DAGASDAS, RACHEL JUNE A., DILOY, JENNILYN S. Applied Research I (General Science Curriculum) Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, April 2003 “ PRODUCTION OF COLORED LIP GLOSS FROM BEESWAX “. Adviser: Dr. Mila Cueno
The study entitled “Production of Colored Lip Gloss From Beeswax” was conducted to manufacture lip gloss with the use of beeswax. It also aimed to determine the possibility of using beeswax in the production of lip gloss and to evaluate its sensory attributes including glossiness, texture, aroma, color and general acceptability.
Four treatments replicated three times were used in the study: To — control (commercial lip gloss); T; — 1 tsp of grated beeswax + 7 tsp castor oil + 1 tsp honey + ‘A tsp apple essential oil + '% teaspoon of food coloring; T2 — 2 tsp of grated beeswax + 7 tsp castor oil + 1 tsp honey + % tsp apple essential oil + /% teaspoon of food coloring; and T3 — 3 tsp of grated beeswax + 7 tsp castor oil + 1 tsp honey + ¥% tsp apple essential oil+6 ¥% teaspoon of food coloring. The results showed that the amount of beeswax used to manufacture lip gloss affected its sensory attributes such as glossiness, texture, aroma, color, and general acceptability. It significantly affected the sensory properties of the produced lip glosses.
Based on the results, it was concluded that beeswax can be utilized in the production of lip gloss. In addition, produced samples with beeswax are more acceptable compared to the commercial one.
