Manuel Jr. The response of lettuce to different stocking densities of tilapia in an aquaponics culture was evaluated by measuring the plant height, root length, number of leaves, and weighing of harvested plants and determining the stocking density of tilapia that is best for the growth of lettuce. Cost and return analysis and simple ROI were done. The study was conducted from December 2013 to February 2014 at the rooftop of the Agri-Science Building of the College of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment, and Natural Resources, CvSU, Indang, Cavite. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with the following treatments: To - no fish, T; - 10 fishes, T2 - 15 fishes, and T; - 20 fishes. Each treatment was replicated three times. There were significant differences in terms of plant height, number of leaves, and weight of harvest. T; which contained 20 tilapia was the best stocking density that provided the highest yield for lettuce. However, at this stocking density, higher mortality and slower growth of tilapia were observed compared with other treatments with lesser stocking densities. Among all treatments, T was found to be profitable. There was a profit of P613.5 and a return of investment of 18 percent for one year operation involving floating raft at a stocking density of 20 fishes per tank.
