Abstract: DE GUZMAN, ROSETTE ANNE L. Effectiveness of SPG Rating on Television Programs to Selected Parents of Brgy. San Agustin, Trece Martires City, Cavite.Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication major in Journalism. Cavite State University, Indang , Cavite. March 2013. Adviser: Allan Robert C. Solis. The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of SPG rating on television programs to selected parents of Brgy. San Agustin, Trece Martires City, Cavite. Specifically, the study sought to determine the respondents' level of exposure to SPG rated television programs, the parental guidance practices applied, and if there is a significant relationship between the exposure and parental guidance practices applied by parents. Survey questionnaire was administered to the participants of the study to determine the effectiveness of SPG rating on television programs to parents. The data gathered from December 2012 to March 2013 were used with statistical procedure in order to tabulate, analyze and discuss. The findings of the study revealed that the selected parents of Brgy. San Agustin watch SPG rated TV programs one to two times a day and do parental guidance practices often. Moreover, it was found out that there is no significant relationship between the level of exposure on SPG rated show and the parental guidance practices of parents. Therefore, SPG rating on television programs is effective to the respondents and no matter how exposed they are and their children to SPG rated shows, has no effect on how much they apply parental guidance practices.
