Abstract: ENRIQUEZ, KAREN G. Profitability of Auto Supply Shops in Selected Areas of Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management, major in Financial Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. October 2014. Adviser: Prof. Rowena R. Noceda. The study was conducted from March to June 2014 in selected areas of Cavite. The study aimed to determine the socio-demographic profile of auto supply shop owners/managers; describe the business characteristics of auto supply shop; determine the profitability of auto supply shop; and determine the relationship between the business characteristics and profitability of auto supply shop. The data were gathered through a three part questionnaire (personal information, business information and financial information). The data were analyzed through descriptive statistics (frequency counts, mean, range and percentage), financial ratios (gross profit margin and net profit margin), and chi-square test. Results revealed that majority of the owners/managers of the auto supply shop business were middle-aged and male. Most of the participants were married and college graduate. Majority of the auto supply shop owners/managers got the capital of the business from savings. The amount of rent of auto supply shops ranged from P 5,000 up to P 100,000 monthly with an average of P 14,962.96. Majority of the participants had one up to three employees. The monthly salary of the employees ranged from P 2,500 to P 14,000 with an average of P 6,919.33. Most of the auto supply shops were open for seven days. The gross profit margin of auto supply shop was 73.25 percent. It implies that for every peso worth of sales, there is a 73 centavos gross profit. The net profit margin of auto supply shop was 13.93 percent. It implies that for every peso worth of sales, there is a 14 centavos net profit. Furthermore, the results showed that only the location and form of business ownership had a significant relationship with the net profit margin of auto supply shops.
