Abstract: RAMOS, JASMIN PACSON. "Self-Efficacy, Emotional Intelligence, Motivation to Study, and Academic Achievement of Cavite State University Science High School Students". Master's Thesis. Master of Arts in Education Major in Educational Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2015. Adviser: Dr. Liza C. Costa. This study was conducted to determine the effects of self-efficacy, emotional intelligence, and motivation to study on the academic achievement of Cavite State University Science High School students for AY 2013-2014. Specifically, this sought to (l) determine the participants' personal characteristics in terms of: age, sex, family income, parents' educational attainment, and parents' occupation; (2) determine the participants' level of self-efficacy in terms of academic domain, social domain, and emotional domain; (3) determine the participants' level of emotional intelligence in terms of intrapersonal scale, interpersonal scale, stress management, adaptability, and general mood; (4) determine the participants' level of motivation to study; (5) determine the factors that motivate the participants to study; (6) determine the participants' level of academic achievement in science and mathematics; (7) ascertain if there is a difference on the participants' motivation to study when grouped according to their personal characteristics; and (8) ascertain if there is a relationship between the participants' academic achievement and self-efficacy; emotional intelligence; and motivation to study. The researcher used four sets of questionnaires: (l) Personal Information Sheet (2) Self-Efficacy Scale, (3) Emotional Quotient Inventory and (4) Motivation to Study Questionnaire. All of these were administered to 250 participants. The sampling procedure used was total enumeration method to best evaluate the parameters. Results of the study revealed that the participants were in the age range of 12 to 13 and majority were female. Most of the participants had family monthly income of Php 20,001 to 40,000 wherein their fathers and mothers were college graduate. Majority of the participants' fathers were underemployed, while most mothers were underemployed and unemployed. Participants' level of self-efficacy, emotional intelligence, and motivation to study were "moderate". Furthermore, interesting, and practical lesson, easy and manageable class, and upcoming periodical and long exam were the factors that best motivate students to study. In addition, Cavite State University Science High Schools students for AY 2013-2014 were found to be on the "proficient level" in terms of academic achievement in science and mathematics. The results of this study showed that the students' level of motivation to study differed when grouped according to age, while there was no difference when grouped according to sex, family income, parents' educational attainment and parents' occupation. Furthermore, Spearman Rank correlation coefficient revealed that there was significant relationship between the students' academic self-efficacy and their academic achievement in mathematics. On the other hand, students' emotional intelligence and motivation to study were not significantly related to their academic achievement in science and mathematics.
