Capalad, The study was conducted at Samonte's Residence in Upland Subdivision, Indang, Cavite from October to December 2004 to formulate a tea blend with potential herbal value using plants indigenous to the locality such as avocado, bitter melon, star apple, mutha and pandan. The percentage mixture composition of each tea blend or treatment were 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, except the control treatment (T 1) which is a commercial tea. The study also aimed to determine (a) the best proportion of each herbal plant when blended into one as a beverage tea; (b) the immediate health effect of the tea blend; and (c) the acceptability of the formulated tea blends. The results of the study indicated that the formulated tea blends from Treatment 2 to Treatment 6 were comparable to the control treatment in terms of clarity, strength and body, aroma, and flavor. There were no significant differences noted among the treatments. Results of toxicity test indicated that the sample tea blends, like the control commercial tea, were safe to drink or to be utilized as a beverage. The potential of the tea blends as beverage tea with herbal value was portrayed because Of its acceptability and quality similar to the control tea
