Abstract: GONZALES, NORIBETH B., Personality Traits and Social Adjustment of Transferee Students of Year 2009-2011 at Cavite State University Indang, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Cavite State University Indang, Cavite. April 2014. Thesis Adviser: Mrs. Imelda R. Filart. This study was conducted to determine the significant relationship between personality traits and social adjustment among selected transferee students of Cavite State University. Specifically, this study aimed to: (1) determine the personality traits of the participants in terms of openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism; (2) determine the social adjustment of the participants in terms of peers, teachers, and classmates; and (3) determine the significant relationship between personality traits and social adjustment of transferee students of Cavite State University, Indang Cavite, SY 2009-2011. This study used the purposive sampling technique in selecting the participants and in determining the target number to complete the collection of data in the study. The participants of the study had a total of seventy four (74) transferee students of Cavite State University — Main Campus that were still enrolled in this university during the conduct of the study. The researcher used descriptive correlation design. The instrument has been approved after it was developed and validated by a statistician. The participants were requested to answer the questionnaire based on their social adjustment of being transferee students. The findings of the study revealed that the participants had a high level Of personality traits in terms of conscientiousness, extraversion, and agreeableness while low level in openness to change/experience and neuroticism. They also had high level of social adjustment to teachers and classmates and low level to peers. However, it was found that extraversion was significantly related to social adjustment to teachers. Then, personality traits were not related to social adjustment of transferee students.
