Abstract: ZINAMPAN, MYRALYN F. Effects of commercial liquid mycotoxin binder on growth performance, histological features of liver and Villi length of jejunum of broiler chickens. Undergraduate Thesis. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Cavite State University. Indang, Cavite. October 2014. Adviser: Dr. Emmanuel R. Mago. The study was conducted to determine the effects of commercial liquid mycotoxin binder on the growth performance of broilers in terms of average daily gain (ADG), feed conversion ratio (FCR), mortality rate and harvest recovery; histological features of liver; Villi length of jejunum; and income over feed and chick cost (IOFCC). A total of six thousand (6,000) day-old Cobb chicks were placed in a conventional housing divided into cages. Chicks were randomly distributed into an experimental and a control group. Each group was replicated thrice with 1000 heads per replicate. The experimental group was supplemented with commercial liquid mycotoxin binder through drinking water while the control group was not. The supplement was given every morning at day 11 to 15 and then at day 17 to 21. After harvest, three (3) livers and three (3) jejuni samples per group were collected for histological examination. There were no significant differences (P>0.05) between experimental and control groups in all production parameter measured and Villi length. The ADG of the control and treatment are the same while FCR of control is slightly better than treatment. The broilers in the treatment group have lower mortality than the control group which made it slightly profitable in terms of lower IOFCC. Jejunal Villi of the control birds were slightly longer than those of the treatment group. Liver histology did not show any remarkable changes and difference between groups.
