Abstract: The study aimed to determine the variety of garlic that would give maximum yield under Indang, a,vite condi-tions. The varieties used were: Batangas Red Shank, Ba-tangas White Shank, 'locos White Shank and Manila Variety. It also aimed to compare the growth responses of these different varieties and the yielding ability under Indang, Cavite conditions. This study was conducted in Kaytapos, Indang, Cavite from November, 1900 to February, 1981. A field with an area of 64 square meters was divi-ded and prepared into plots after digging and pulverizing the soil. A randomized complete block design was used with four treatments and four replications. The bulblets were planted in each plot at a dis-tance of 20 centimeters between rows and 15 centimeters between hills. iRice straws was laid evenly over the sur-face of the plot after planting. Watering was done regu-larly to provide ample su:ply of moisture and enllance ger-mination of bulblets. Results of the study showed that growth and yield of grli[c were affected by the variety used for a certain locality. Under Indang conditions, Batangas Red Shank (Treatment 1) gave the highest yield among the varieties used in the study.
