Cavite State University. April 2015. Thesis Adviser: Prof Armi Grace B. Desinganio This study was conducted at the selected barangay in General Trias, Cavite to determine the demographic profile, emotional maturity, and parenting styles of young mothers. This study also determined the demographic profile of young mothers in terms of their age, number of offspring, living with partner or not, and educational attainment; assessed their emotional maturity level; identified their parenting styles in terms of authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, and uninvolved; recognized if there was significant relationship between their demographic profile and parenting styles; specified if there was significant relationship between their demographic profile and parenting styles; and determined if there was significant relationship between their emotional maturity and parenting styles. The study involved a total of one hundred (100) young mothers from the selected barangay in General Trias, Cavite whose age ranged from 19 to 24 and gave birth at least five years ago. In addition, the participants were chosen through purposive sampling. Descriptive-correlational design was used as the study sought the answers to the problems, and the relationships of the variables were also determined. The data gathered were computed and analyzed using mean, percentage, standard deviation, Pearson r, Spearman rank, point biserial, and chi square. Majority of the young mothers' age belonged to 23 to 24 years old. In terms of the number of offspring, most of them had one child. In terms of their educational attainment, most of them reached and completed their secondary education. Lastly, with regard to classification, most of them lived with their partners. Moreover, among the emotional maturity of the participants, majority had average level of emotional maturity, and for parenting styles, majority of them fell under the authoritative parenting. For their demographic profile, it was found out that there was no relationship between the age, number of offspring, living with partner or not, and educational attainment of young mothers and their emotional maturity and parenting styles. The demographic profile had also no relationship with emotional maturity and parenting styles. The result also revealed that there was no significant relationship between their emotional maturity and parenting styles.
