Abstract: GONZALES, ABIGAIL C. Effectiveness of Internet Memes and Its Influence on the Students of Special Program in Journalism of Tanza National Comprehensive High School. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2015. Adviser: Prof. Racquel G. Agustin. The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Internet memes and its influence on the students of Special Program in Journalism of Tanza National Comprehensive High School. Descriptive survey method was used in this study. A questionnaire was divided into four parts and was prepared and distributed to 110 participants. In determining the participants of the study, purposive sampling was used. The frequency counts, percentage, mean, and standard deviation were the statistical treatment used in the study. More than half (56%) of the participants were exposed on Internet memes; most of them are exposed through Facebook. Internet memes are effective among the journalism students of Tanza National Comprehensive High School in terms of timeliness and its creativity. In addition, Internet memes are also found effective because of its relevance to the current issues. Internet memes are said to be influential among the special program in journalism students of Tanza National Comprehensive High School in terms of their attitudes because they were using fearless jokes and punch lines to their friends coming from the internet. Also, Internet memes are influential to their values, for it affects their social relationship with their friends.
