MANALO, VANEZA MAY D. and PERLADO, CHARISSE ANNE D. Design and Development of a Wood Vinegar Extractor. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2019. Adviser: Engr. Nemilyn A. Fadchar.
The study was conducted to develop a Wood Vinegar Extractor. It specifically aimed to design and fabricate the wood vinegar extractor and integrate the sensors to the system, and integrate the distillery to the controller circuit. Moreover, it aimed to test and evaluate the performance of the system and conduct a cost benefit analysis of the device. The design project was composed of an Arduino Mega that serves as the microcontroller unit, flow meter sensor and solenoid valve for controlling the volume of liquid that enters the cooker, temperature sensor to read the temperature inside the cooker, and load cell to monitor the volume of liquid collected from the wood vinegar extractor. The microcontroller gives the output signal to the LCD Display. The LCD displays the parameters read by the flow meter sensor, temperature sensor and load cell. It also has a condensing coil to convert the vapor into liquid form which is the refined wood vinegar. The unit was tested by the researchers. The project testing was done at Engineering Science (ES) Building, College of Engineering and Information Technology (CELT), Cavite State University (CvSU), Indang, Cavite and at Brgy. Alulod, Indang Cavite. Based on the results of the evaluation and laboratory tests, the project met the given objectives. The system was able to extract and collect refined wood vinegar. The device was also able to prove its functionality, usability, correctness, and reliability.
