This study was conducted to determine the parental functioning of users and non-users of modem family planning methods among families in selected barangays in Naic, Cavite, using Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs as an indicator to determine if the physiologic, safety and security, and love and belongingness needs are being met.
The researchers utilized a descriptive correlational design. Systematic random sampling technique was used in selecting the barangays in Naic, Cavite while purposive sampling technique was used in identifying participants, Questionnaires were evenly distributed in the selected barangays using survey method. Data were analyzed using frequency counts, percentage distribution, mean, standard deviation, and Spearman Rank correlation,
The study reveals that there is no significant difference between users and non-users of modern family planning methods in terms of their age, number of children, socio-economic Status, and educational attainment. The type of occupation has a significant difference with regards to the utilization of modem family planning methods. The result implies that if their occupation has a greater range of salary, the less they are concerned for the utilization of modern family planning methods. It also reveals that there is no relationship between the parental functioning and utilization of modern family planning methods with regards to meeting the child/children’s physiologic, safety and security, and love and belongingness needs.
