The study was conducted to determine the awareness, knowledge, and attitude towards work safety among employees of manufacturing companies in selected areas of Cavite. Specifically, the study aimed to determine the socio-demographic profile of employees in terms of; age, sex, civil status, educational attainment, and length of service; determine the level of awareness towards work safety among employees in terms of management leadership and employee involvement , workplace analysis, hazard prevention and control and safety and health training and education; determine the level of knowledge towards work safety among employees; determine the direction of attitude towards work safety among employees; determine the significant relationship between the socio-demographic profile of employees and the level of awareness towards work safety among employees; determine the significant relationship between the socio-demographic profile of employees and level of knowledge towards work safety among employees; determine the significant relationship between the socio-demographic profile of employees and the direction of their attitude towards work safety among employees; and determine the significant relationship between the level of awareness and knowledge of employees and the direction of their attitude towards work safety among employees.
Descriptive statistical tools such as frequency, mean, rank percentage, standard deviations were used to answer the objectives of the study. Spearman Rank Correlation and Pearson Correlation Coefficient were used in determining the relationship between the demographic profile and level of awareness, level of knowledge and direction of attitude of the employees in manufacturing companies in Cavite. Based on the result, 54.25 percent of the participants belonged to the age bracket of 21 to 30 years old, mostly male (68%), single (64%), high school graduate (32%), and length of service is from 1 to 5 years (48%). In addition the level of awareness towards work safety is very much aware in terms of management leadership (4.48), workplace analysis (4.46), hazard prevention and control (4.51), and safety training and education (4.58).
The other hand the level of knowledge towards work safety is very high in terms of management leadership and employee involvement (4.52), workplace analysis (4.52), hazard prevention and control (4.54), and safety training and education (4.54). Lastly, the direction of attitude towards work safety is very favorable with the mean of 4.63. Moreover, there is significant relationship between the age (0.019), sex (0.012), and length of service (0.04) and level of awareness pertaining to management leadership and employee involvement. There is significant relationship between the gender (0.039) and level of awareness towards work safety pertaining to workplace analysis. Finally, there is significant relationship between the level of awareness, level of knowledge and direction of attitude.
