PATINGA, ALDRIN Y. Time Series Analysis of Vital Statistics of Live Births and Deaths in the Philippines in Year 1903-2011. Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics (with specialization in Statistics). Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Prof Andrew Siducon.
The study was conducted to determine a model that may be used to forecast the vital statistics of live births and deaths in the Philippines, to test the adequacy of the formulated mode and to provide forecasts of the vital statistics in the Philippines. This study aimed to be beneficial to different sectors such as individual, government, and future researchers. The data used in the study were secondary data from the Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA). Model was selected using time series analysis. The best model for the prediction of the vital statistics of live births and deaths in the Philippines was selected considering several criteria. Forecasted values for the vital statistics of the Philippines for 2012-2020 were computed using the formulated model. The estimated model was found out to be 2 Yt = —.992 A' Yt_i .7441 2Yt_2 — •3396,2Yt_3 + Et for live births and A2 Yt = —1.137 L12 Yt_i — .787A2K-2 .311A2Yt_3 for deaths.
