Development of Mother Tongue A Mobile Application: A Tagalog MTB-MLE for Grade 3

The study was conducted from August 2018 to October at Cavite State University in
Indang, Cavite that aimed to develop a mobile application or application of Mother Tongue
subject that enhances the knowledge of Grade 3 students. Specifically, it aimed to: 1. identify
and analyze the problem by conducting interview to provide a solution through developing a
mobile application; 2. design the system to apply the modern use of technology that helps the
users in listening and reading the Mother Tongue through creating a modules such as
assessment, lesson, about, and settings module that will elaborate and explain difficulties
through the subject of Mother Tongue; 3. develop lesson module to learn and know about
Mother Tongue, assessment module to motivate the students provide a tool for the teachers,
about module to know the information about the book and researchers, and setting module
contains the sound can mute and unmute, and create a module to assess that the users
understand what they have reads and listens; 4. test and evaluate the system through units and
integration testing using ISO 9126. The developers used the Android operating system as the
platform for this mobile application, C# as the coding programming language, Unity, ADK and
SDK for the development of the application. The system was evaluated by 40 students, one
teacher and 10 IT experts based on the mobile application's functionality, reliability, usability,
efficiency, maintainability, portability, and user-friendliness. The application achieved a general
mean average of 4.64. The result of the evaluation showed that the application is excellent; it
implies that the application fully met and far exceeded the most expectations.
