Abstract: GOLLOSO, WINDIE Y., ILAGAN, RICHARD R., MACALAWA, NICHELLE ANN S., and TAURAK, AISHA R. Financial Management Practices of Smartphone Retail Business in Selected Cities of Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. August 2022. Adviser: Ms. Janice E. Paiton. This study was conducted to examine the financial management practices of smartphone retail business in selected cities of Cavite. Specifically, the study aimed to determine the socio-demographic characteristics of smartphone retail business owners; identify the business profile of smartphone retail businesses; determine the level of implementation of financial management practices of smartphone retail business owners; and identify the level of effectiveness of the financial management practices implemented by smartphone retail business owners. This study was conducted from January 2021 until December 2021. Smartphone retail owners from selected cities in Cavite O General Trias, Trece Martirez, and Tagaytay were the participants of the study. Total enumeration was used to survey 69 owners of smartphone retail businesses in the cities of General Trias, Trece Martirez, and Tagaytay City, all of which are categorized as micro-businesses. Ten (10) of the business owners participated in the pre-testing of the online survey questionnaire, while the rest were actual research participants. Online interviews with the smart phone retail business owners through Facebook posts, groups, pages and messenger were used to gather data. Descriptive statistical tools like frequency count, mean and range were used. Likert scale was used to measure the degree of implementation and level of effectiveness of financial management practices of smartphone retail business owners. Cash management practices and accounts payable management practices were highly implemented while record keeping were moderately effective. In general, financial management practices of smartphone retail business owners were highly effective. Cash management, accounts payable management and record keeping were all highly effective, indicating that the overall financial management practices implemented by smartphone retail business owners were remarkably effective. Practices such as pre-numbering of official receipts, collecting receivables every collection period, keeping track of receipts in order to compare it with the purchase order supply, and reviewing and recording of receipts that must be paid should be observed. Smartphone retail business owners must develop their knowledge and understanding on financial management practices through deliberate study, development training, attending seminars related to finances of a business or through the assistance of professionals.
