Abstract: DE ASIS, STEPHEN CARL I. and TABAN-UD, ARIADNE VERLAINE T. Sexual Orientation of Social Work Students of Cavite State University S.Y. 2020-2021: A Narrative Analysis. Undergraduate Thesis in Bachelor of Science in Social Work. Cavite State University. June 2021. Adviser: Ms. Darylvy R. Avila, RSW, MPA This study explored the various experiences of LGBT students of the BS Social Work course from Cavite State University. Specifically, it aimed to: 1. To determine the experiences of LGBT students from the Social Work course of Cavite State University. 2. To determine their experiences with stigma and various forms of bullying against their sexual orientation. 3. To determine the possible effects of these experiences to their mental health and how they cope with it. Narrative analysis was used to gain insight from the perspective of the LGBT members themselves, the problems they face, how it affects their mental health, how they deal with the stigma, their views towards their environment and society, and how they wish to advocate change and acceptance towards the LGBT community. This study showed the importance of a support system that helps empower the LGBT community and let their voices be heard such as Cavite State University who has policies directed towards allowing them to express themselves, and as well as organizations, student leaders, and even staff members who serve as representatives for the community. The study allowed Social Work students who are part of the LGBTQ Community to express their experiences and allowed us to gain further understanding towards the challenges they face. It had also demonstrated the positive impact that safe and inclusive learning environments can have on student success.
