An undergraduate thesis: Bachelor of Science in Social Work Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2021. Adviser: Darylvy R. Avila, RSW, MPA This study aimed to know the challenges experienced by solo parents and the effectiveness of government services in helping the solo parents with the challenges they are facing, living in Dasmariñas Cavite. To achieve this aim, the researchers used a mixed method. For qualitative part, a descriptive design was used to describe the challenges of solo parents and the government services designed to help solo parents. For quantitative part, a survey was conducted to the selected solo parents living in Dasmariñas Cavite. The researchers used a researchers-made questionnaire that were validated by three social worker validators and by the researchers' thesis adviser and technical critic. The results of the study revealed that many solo parents are having difficulties in their financial needs being the only one working and supporting the family and are having a hard time coping up with stress. The study found out that livelihood programs and counselling sessions are said to be effective in helping the solo parents living in Dasmariñas Cavite. But there are still many solo parents who are not aware about the benefits, services and assistance from the government. It was concluded that government services helped solo parents living in Dasmariñas Cavite but not all solo parents were aware about the said services from the government.
