Abstract: ABESTADO, CONNIE RAVELO; ASAS, GINA BARRAZA: DILIDILI, AMELIA SISIT; VILLADELREY, JEAN delos REYES. . “Computerized Library System of Cavite State University.” Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2001 Adviser: Mrs. Joy M. Arayata. The “Computerized Library System of Cavite State University” was conducted to develop a system which can improve the quality of services offered by the library and to help the librarian at the same time, to lighten their work especially during encoding of data in cataloguing. It was also conducted to develop computerized search of books in the library that could be benefited by the researchers. It covered cataloguing, searching, monitoring the borrowing and returning of books and other reading materials on the different sections in the library. The system was supported by Local Area Network (LAN), wherein one computer which served as the server was exclusively for the librarian and the other two for the researchers. The interviews were conducted at the University Library and the development of software was done at CREMaC Computer Center. The software underwent some kind of tests to evaluate its capability and limitations. The study revealed that the cost of its operation was much bigger than the existing System and it turn out to be very useful and satisfying not only for the librarians but also for the researchers. Based on the result obtained in the study, the system was not that perfect. Thus, the researchers recommend improvements in cataloguing. If possible, it is better to make a system that can automatically classify the author, number and subjects of the book, once the librarian had encoded the author and title of the books. Through this, the cataloguing of books will become much easier and dependable.
