CHAVEZ, RON KEVIN R. and YSULA, MARK JOSEPH B. Development of a Three Phase Motor Control Trainer with Phase Sequence Indicator. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Industrial Technology major in Electrical Technology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2018. Adviser: Mr. Gary Cahibaybayan.
One of the most important and core field studies of Bachelor of Industrial Technology major in Electrical Technology student is motor control. It is practical in industry nowadays. Motor control is not an easy part of electrical technology field, it is very important for every electrical student to gain knowledge and skills about motor control. But it is difficult to learn and teach when there is lack of facilities and equipment used for demonstration. The study aims to develop the present motor controller trainer in Electrical technology section of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Technology. The existing trainer was useful, accurate at functional but the author wants to improve and to expand the capability of the trainer. The purpose the study is to help the instructor to deliver their lesson easily, to satisfy the needs of the students in information and to give a practical demonstration on how motor control works. The general objective of this study was to develop a three phase motor control trainer with phase sequence indicator for the benefit of the electrical technology section of Department of Industrial Engineering and Technology. Specifically, it aims to design a modular motor controller composed of a set of the three basic controls namely; Stop-Start, Forward-Reverse and wye-delta and can be used separately in different locations. In this project, phase sequence indicator device takes place in determining the correct and proper phasing of the lines. This trainer will also enhance the ability of the student to read the diagram and practice a practical way of wiring. The study was conducted and constructed in Dasmarinas City, Cavite and in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Technology in February to April 2018 and evaluated Electrical Technology section under the College of Engineering and Information Technology. The materials and components are found through canvassing in the internet and inquiring to some people who are working in the electrical industry. The researchers first made a listing and evaluated the price between the brand new components. The materials used in this project are branded second hand and class A components bought from Raon St. Quiapo, Calamba Laguna and Deeco Dasmarinas City, Cavite. Some materials such as Ply woods, wires and paint are bought from different location within the area of Dasmarinas. All the terminals of each components are wired from its original location to terminal blocks. The operation of the project includes the three basic motor control operations. The Stop-Start, Forward-Reverse and Wye-Delta. It has voltmeter and ammeter with selector switch. The buzzer located at the cover of the table and shall indicate faulting and overloading. The 3 phase induction motor has 12 leads that installed also to the table cover.
