Abstract: ABLING, SHIRLYN MAY G., AMON, EDLEREEN JOY J., BALADIANG, HAROLD JASON D. and BALIN, MARLOUTHA T. Treatment Compliance of Clients With Pulmonary Tuberculosis in Selected Municipalities of Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis, College of Nursing, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, April 2011, Adviser; Vina V. Velasco and Divinia Joy C. Tuzon. This study was conducted in selected municipalities of Cavite — Silang, Gen. Mariano Alvarez, Carmona and Dasmarifias (SIGMA CARDAS) from March 2010 to February 2011. It aimed to (1) identify the demographic profile of clients with Pulmonary Tuberculosis in terms of age, gender, civil status, residence, educational background, occupation, monthly income and medical history; (2) identify the medical history of clients with Pulmonary Tuberculosis in terms of age when diagnosed, age when treatment started, length of treatment, distance from health center, category of treatment regimen, drug formulation, manner of drug administration, time of administration, reasons for missing doses; (3) determine the level of knowledge of clients with Pulmonary Tuberculosis in terms of nature of the disease, mode of transmission, clinical manifestation, treatment and prevention; (4) determine the level of treatment compliance of clients with Pulmonary Tuberculosis, regardless of the Tuberculosis DOTS category they are currently enrolled in, in terms of diet, lifestyle, medications, family support and preventive measures; and (5) verify whether there is a relationship between the demographic profile versus level of knowledge and level of knowledge versus treatment compliance among clients with Pulmonary Tuberculosis in selected municipalities of Cavite — Silang, Gen. Mariano Alvarez, Carmona and Dasmarinas (SIGMA CARDAS). This research study was conducted in order to identify the treatment compliance of clients with Pulmonary Tuberculosis in selected municipalities of Cavite. The target Tuberculosis treatment cure rate is 85% which has not been achieved by Silang, Gen. Mariano Alvarez, and Dasmarifias. Only Carmona reached the target rate of 86% in 2009. Therefore, the researchers wanted to find out the reason why the target rate has not been met by these three municipalities — Silang, Gen. Mariano Alvarez, and Dasmarifias. This study determined and compared these outcomes to the compliance of the respondents and the reason for achieving the target Tuberculosis treatment cure rate in Carmona. Primary data were gathered through survey using a self-made questionnaire distributed to the 191 respondents with Pulmonary Tuberculosis in selected municipalities of Cavite. Subsequently, data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Chi Square and Spearman Rank Correlation Coefficient. The findings of the study revealed that majority of the respondents were highly compliant about the course of treatment. There is no significant relationship between demographic profile and level of knowledge of the respondents. However, the level of knowledge has a highly significant relationship with the level of compliance of the clients with Pulmonary Tuberculosis in selected municipalities of Silang, Gen. Mariano Alvarez, Carmona and Dasmarifias (SIGMA CARDAS).
