Online resources: Abstract: The study “Adaptability Test of Six Varieties of Corn," was conducted from June, 1976 to September, 1976 at the Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite to determine which of the six varieties of corn would be more profitable under upland Cavite conditions. The field, which covers an area of 2,288.25 square meters slightly rolling, with generally light soil and previously planted to cassava, was used in the experiment. The field was thoroughly prepared by plowing three times and followed by harrowing at an interval of two weeks to allow weed seeds to germinate and to decay. The varieties used were white flint corn, glutinous corn, cardinal corn, cebu white corn, DMR=2 and popcorn Planting was done on June 20, 1976. Three to four seeds were dropped in each hill in the furrows and were slickly covered with fine soil. The distance of planting was 40-45 centimeters apart in the rows and 80-90 centimetres between rowse Complete fertilizer (14-14-14) was broadcastly applied over the entire field at the rate of 400 kilograms per hectare. The seeds began to germinate five days after planting and uniform growth was attained on the third week Treatment 2 (glutinous corn) relatively showed a faster growth as compared to the five other varieties. Occurrence of a few corn-ear worms (Helicoverpa Armigera Hubner) attacking the plants was observed on August 11, 1976 Minimum number of tassels appeared on the forty-fifth day after planting; the maximum, on the 47th day. Treatment 2 (Glutinous corn) produced the highest mean height of plants at maturity in centimetres Treatment 2 (Glutinous corn) gave the highest mean length of eafse The highest mean weight of ears was also obtained from Treatment 2 (Glutinous corn) Likewise, Treatment 2 (Glutinous corn) gave the highest mean weight of shelled graine. The study revealed that glutinous corn variety was the best of all other varieties owing to its production of more shelled grains as well as in its weight, length and height of the plants

Treatment 2 (Glutinous corn) produced the highest mean height of plants at maturity in centimetres

Treatment 2 (Glutinous corn) gave the highest mean length of eafse The highest mean weight of ears was also obtained from Treatment 2 (Glutinous corn)

Likewise, Treatment 2 (Glutinous corn) gave the highest mean weight of shelled graine.

The study revealed that glutinous corn variety was the best of all other varieties owing to its production of more shelled grains as well as in its weight, length and height of the plants
