When Words Hurt: Verbal Bullying, Self-Esteem and Self-Efficacy of Selected Students in Congressional National Highschool, Dasmarinas City, Cavite Bachelor of Science in Psychology. The study was conducted on December 15, 2014 to January 5, 2015 at Via Verde Village, San Agustin II, Dasmarinas City, Cavite. The study focused on answering the following questions. First, what is the level of verbal bullying of the participants? Second, what is the level of the self-esteem of participants? Third, what is the level of self-efficacy of the participants? Fourth, is there a significant relationship between verbal bullying and self-esteem of the participants? And last, is there a significant relationship between verbal bullying and self-efficacy of the participants? The relationship of verbal bullying to self-esteem and self-efficacy is examined in the study. The participants included 100 selected students from Congressional National Highschool who experienced verbal abuse. The researchers used descriptive correlational research design to describe the level of verbal bullying, self-esteem and self-efficacy of the students and to identify the relationship between verbal bullying and self-esteem, also, verbal bullying to self-efficacy. The participants were assessed using questionnaire scales which measured verbal bullying victimisation, self-esteem level and self-efficacy level. To assess verbal bullying victimisation, Verbal Bullying Student Survey was used. The Sorensen Self-Esteem Test and General Self-Efficacy Scale were used to assess self-esteem and self-efficacy, respectively. The results of the study displayed that most of the students were victimized in a low level of verbal abuse, exhibit mildly low level of self-esteem and high level of self- efficacy. The results also revealed that verbal bullying has a negative correlation with self-esteem and self-efficacy. The researchers therefore conclude that verbal bullying influences the self-esteem and self-efficacy of the students.
