Abstract: VICEDO, HAZELL R. Yield Performance of Bitter Gourd Cultivars Galaxy Fl and Jadestar L Fl as Affected by Population Density. Undergraduates Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (major in Horticulture). Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2005. Adviser: Prof. Regina M. Nosa The study was conducted from September to December 2005 at the Farmer's Training Center and Technology Demonstration Farm, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite to determine the yield performance of two bitter gourd cultivars as affected by population density. Two bitter gourd cultivars, namely: Galaxy Fl and Jadestar L Fl were evaluated under three planting densities Tl (20,000 plants/ha), T2 (10,000 plants/ha) and T3 (6,667 plants/ha). Following a split plot design, each treatment combination was replicated three times. Variety and population density did not significantly affect the yield parameters, such as the number of fruits produced per plant, total harvest per plant, fruit weight and fruit length. The interaction of the two factors caused significant differences only in terms of fruit length. The data collected were greatly affected by the incidence of male dominance or "namamarako" and by the attack of root knot nematodes (Meloidogwze SR
