PULIDO, ROGELIO JR. B.. "HEMATOLOGIC AND SERUM BIOCHEMISTRY PROFILE OF WILD SOUTHERN LUZON GIANT CLOUD RAT (Phloeomys cruningi,Waterhouse, 1839) FROM SELECTED AREAS OF INDANG, CAVITE." Undergraduate Thesis, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2008. Adviser: Saldovar A. Matienzo, DVM.
A study was conducted to describe the hematologic and serum biochemistry profile of five apparently healthy wild Southern Luzon Giant Cloud Rats (Phloeomys cumingi,Waterhouse, 1839) from Tambo M. Kulit, Indang, Cavite, composed of three males and two females with an average body weight of 1.77 kg. The mean hematologic values were as follows: Hematocrit = 38.02%; RBC = 4.77 x106/[11; WBC = 12.75 x103/[1.1; Hb = 10.2 MCH = 21.3 pg: MCV = 79.5 fl.; and MCEIC = 26.8 %. In differential leukocyte count, it was observed that the predominating cell in Southern Luzon Giant Cloud Rats was the lymphocyte followed by neutrophils and monocytes. There were no counted eosinophils and basophils. The mean leukocyte values observed in the cloud rats were as follows: lymphocyte = 59.38 %; neutrophil = 36.04 %; monocyte = 4.42 %; eosinophil = 0 %; and basophil = 0 yo. Serum chemistry values observed were as follows: BUN = 10.47 mg/dl; creatinine = 0.76 mg/dl; ALT/SGPT = 77.06 U/dl; and AST/ SGOT = 202.92 U/dl.
