A 480-hour field study was conducted at Absolut Chemicals, Incorporated, a distillery plant located in Malaruhatan, Lian, Batangas. Specifically, it aimed to describe the organization, management and operations of the firm; identify the problems encountered and recommend feasible solutions to the problems identified. Data and information used in the study such as management policies and practices, incentives and motivation, problems and plans of the firm were gathered through interviews with the department head, supervisor and employees of the firm and through direct observations of the firm's operations. The distillery plant complex has a total lot area of 8.7 hectares. The major products produced by the firm are ethyl alcohol and carbon dioxide as a fermentation product. This is used in the production of soft drinks and other industrial application. Problems encountered by the firm include inadequate source of supply of raw material, and the disposal of waste water. The major problem encountered by the trainee was the difficulty in data gathering because of the company's strict policy on confidentiality of its records.
