Abstract: AMBAS, MAE BERNADETTE M. DELA PENA, JHANIVER F. and JERIBAI HAGGAI C. SANTOS. Production of Lotion Using Crude Extract from Wild Sunflower (Helianthus annuus). A Research Study. Cavite State University, Science High School, Indang, Cavite. April 2008. Adviser: Ms. Mariedel L. Autriz. The study was conducted to determine the possibility of producing lotion using crude wild sunflower extract. Specifically, it aimed to evaluate the sensory qualities and acceptability of wild sunflower lotion in terms of color, aroma, texture, moisture and acceptability; to compare the sensory qualities of the wild sunflower lotion to commercial sunflower lotion. Three sunflower lotions were evaluated in the study; the first formulation contains 100 grams of crude wild sunflower extract while the second formulation contains 200 grams of crude wild sunflower extract; and the third formulation was a commercial sunflower lotion. One hundred (100) female students of Cavite State University Science High School were used as respondents in the evaluation of the sensory qualities (color, aroma, texture and moisture) and acceptability of the three treatments. The study showed that the commercial sunflower lotion consistently had the highest mean scores except in terms of color.
