This study was conducted to determine the level of socio — emotional maturity of selected high school students at Governor Ferrer Memorial National High School, General Trias, Cavite. Specifically, this study aimed to: (1) determine the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of gender and birth order; (2) identify the level of socio — emotional maturity of the respondents classified as experiencing paternal presence and paternal absence; (3) determine if there is a significant relationship between gender and socio — emotional maturity; (4) determine if there is a significant relationship between birth order and socio — emotional maturity; and (5) determine if there is a significant difference between the level of socio — emotional maturity of the respondents experiencing paternal presence, and the level of socio — emotional maturity of the respondents experiencing paternal absence. The respondents of the study were high school students, whose ages range from 13 to 16 years old, experiencing the presence and absence of a father and were enrolled at Governor Ferrer Memorial National High School, General Trias, Cavite. Out of the total population of four thousand twenty five (4,025) students, three hundred sixty four (364) respondents participated in the study. Convenience sampling was used to select the participants of the study. The study utilized the descriptive, correlation and comparative research design to answer the problems and objectives of the study. In this study, the Socio — Emotional Maturity Questionnaire was utilized as the main research instrument. The statistical tools employed were mean, frequency count, mode, percentage, standard deviation, the formula for Chi — Square and the formula for Mann — Whitney Test. The findings of the study indicated that more than half of the participants were female and were first born children. Most of them were classified as experiencing paternal presence. Additionally, the level of socio — emotional maturity of most of the participants belonged to that of a Socio — Emotional Adult. Results of the study also show that gender is significantly related to the level of socio — emotional maturity of adolescents. However, the study revealed that birth order, as well as the presence and absence of a father do not affect the level of socio — emotional maturity of the participants. Moreover, the level of socio — emotional maturity of the participants classified as experiencing paternal presence does not differ with the level of socio — emotional maturity of the participants classified as experiencing paternal absence.
